Geography Little Lessons
Good morning/afternoon to you all! Thank you all so much for the hard work and effort a number of you have been putting in to furthering your learning of Humanities at home. It has been wonderful to see the creation of historical foods, documentaries being watched and discussed as well as critiqued amongst family members, written essays and surveys being carried out. Also the fieldwork and little trips that have been taken (safely!) have also been amazing to see and it is a testament to your ambition to learn new things outside of the classroom that makes me proud to celebrate your achievements. Please continue to send in work/ photos of everything you are doing in both History and Geography and remember to engage with the core concepts of our Infinity Curriculum wherever you can. We can't wait to see you in person again and take this even further! Stay safe and thank you so much again for all of your hard work.

'Hello Year 7 - Thank you so much for your continued efforts in sharing your geography with me and your teachers throughout this time. It is truly fantastic to see some of the fieldwork and learning being shared and it has been wonderful to see some of you in person in school and discuss share those successes face to face! Alongside the next few weeks of Little Lessons, you will see that there has been some Doddle assigned to help support your efforts with Coasts and I would encourage you to give these a go to further help you with understanding of how coastlines look and change over time. Whether you are in school or remain at home, give it a go and even if at first you feel there was room for improvement, then by all means go back and give it another try! Good luck and as always please feel free to contact your geography teacher using geography@oakfieldacademy.org if you have any questions about anything. All the best. See you all soon!

Using the PDF attached - examine the variety of case studies of hurricanes that have occurred in recent years and begin to evaluate the impacts that occur and whether or not the development of a country has an influence on the way a country can prepare and manage a hurricane.
Use this template and a sheet of A4 paper to create your pop up hurricane with accompanying annotations of how a hurricane forms.
Attempt these tasks about locating and proposing the most suitable geographical site for Frome International Airport
To conclude your work from the previous few weeks on locating and proposing suitable sites for Frome Airport, use the marking ladder and write to inform the Frome Council of your suggested sites. Use the criteria in the ladder to structure your writing and strive to write at least two paragraphs.
Using the slides - explore the formation of tornadoes and begin to explore where in the world they mostly occur. Also watch the video attached to help you in your learning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aacHWoB7cmY
