Yondr Phone-Free Schools Programme

From Monday 21st September 2026, Oakfield Academy will be introducing the Yondr Phone-Free Schools Programme to support a calm, focused and socially interactive learning environment, free from digital distractions.

As part of the programme, every pupil will be provided with a Yondr pouch - a secure, lockable case designed to safely store personal devices during the school day. Pupils are responsible for bringing their pouch to and from school each day and keeping it in good condition.

How it works:

Upon arrival:
Pupils will switch off all smart technology, including mobile phones and smartwatches, place their devices inside their Yondr pouch and lock it in front of a member of staff.

During the school day:
Pupils will keep their locked pouch safely inside their school bag.

At the end of the day:
Pupils will use designated unlocking stations to unlock their pouches and retrieve their devices.

The process is quick, simple and supervised by staff, and will become part of our daily routine.

We appreciate the support of pupils and families in helping us create a positive school environment where students can focus on their learning, engage with others and make the most of their time at Oakfield Academy.

Other technology

The use of MP3 players, iPods and any other audio equipment is strictly banned in school time. Any mobile phones, MPS players, iPods and audio equipment used during the Oakfield Academy day will be confiscated. Please note that parents will have to collect any confiscated items.
