Image of World Book day - visiting authors & In school competitions

The theme for the day is fantasy: Fantasy characters may have magical powers and may include witches and wizards, elves, fairies, giants, dragons, monsters, talking animals, talking toys, or other supernatural or unnatural beings.

 

Visiting Authors

Alice Ivinya is a USA Today Bestselling author and has won multiple awards for her young adult fantasy books.
She will be joined on the day by another fantasy author Rhianna Williams.
Rhianna is a British fantasy author from Somerset. She has published The Kane Saga and is currently working on The Leshera Chronicles, along with short stories in the What's In A Name Anthologies Once Upon a Name and Twice Upon a Name. 
On World Book Day, Alice and Rhianna will be delivering workshops to KS2 and KS3.

Both authors will be available to sign any books purchased (see google forms below.) Books can be purchased before the event using the google forms or on the day from the authors.

Competitions entries. (to be prepared at home.)

  • Costumes: Theme is fantasy
  • Dioramas: A scene to show a favourite book.
  • Vegetable Book Character: Dressing up a vegetable as a book character.
  • Sponsored Read: All profits going to buy resources for the academy’s library. Forms available soon from the library.

 

In School competitions

 

  • Golden Tickets: During the school day pupils will be able to hunt for Golden tickets. There will be five hidden around the school site. The lucky five, who find a golden ticket, will receive a Wonga Bar.  
  • Library Wall Display: In small groups create a wall display for our library. 
    The displays will be judged by Mrs Milkins and then the winning display will be created in the library.
